Talking

Not to sound sarcastic---but have you invested in a Rand McNally road map that shows the counties?? I have a ancient 14 yr old map that shows the counties. Use it all the time in the shack. Just a suggestion

It's not exactly intuitive, but you can use the state and county maps that are displayed at the top of the county pages of the radioreference database.

I knew I-95 started in Chatham County in the north, so I followed the purple line south as it went from one county to the next.

I believe the correct answer is (someone please correct this if I'm wrong):
Chatham
Bryan
Liberty
McIntosh
Glynn
Camden

The biggest thing to monitor is GSP. That is THEIR corridor for drug runners!

Default I-95 Corridor

Eh, I wouldn't say GSP is the "BEST" ones to monitor personally. Mainly because 8 out of 10 times you won't hear the mobile units, especially if your going to use that 396XT with the rubber duck. All the counties in SE GA patrol the I-95 corridor, as do some of the local police dept's. Especially here in Camden County. You rarely see GSP on I-95 but then there are times that they are here. I would definately put in GSP as well as all the other counties in GA for your trip through.

In Camden, just make sure you put in both the County S/O as well as Kingsland PD, since I-95 runs through Kingsland, and KPD does like to shoot radar on I-95

Camden S/O repeater is 159.165
Kingsland PD repeater is 155.115

Both on the same tower, running 110watts at 350 feet. You can hear them well into Brunswick/Glynn County.

Enjoy your trip!

Default I-95 Corridor

Also, if your "future xyl" lets you buy a 396XT or, if you already have a 396XT, let me know.
I can email you the files I have for GA/FL counties along I-95 so you can just dump them into your scanner.

Yeah its nice to hear GSP but you need to have a roof mounted VHF whip antenna to hear anything.
Also, the interdiction troopers all use Southern Linc for tactical communications which you cant monitor of course.

Drew, I hope I'm not too late but here are the counties that you will want to program in for your trip through GA on I-95 (from North to South)

Effingham
Chatham
Bryan
Liberty
McIntosh
Glynn
Camden

The first few hundred yards or so of GA south of the GA/SC line are actually Effingham County, not Chatham - even though Efffingham assets have to come through Chatham to get there!
