Default GMRS Repeaters

While traveling through Georgia yesterday, I was picking up a station ID on 462.600 which appeared to be the repeater in Madison and thought I heard an unanswered call on the same repeater. Do the North GA GMRS repeaters have station IDs? Also, I thought I would have heard some activity around Atlanta, but didn't hear a thing.

They use internal IDs like "Atlanta 995" in addition to their FCC issued call signs.

IT sounds like this is the repeater you're talking about...

You are probably correct. Thanks.

Still seems odd that I didn't hear anything in the Atlanta area. I have listened there before and have only heard one conversation. That was north of Marietta as I recall.

The North Georgia GMRS network has repeaters on high sites all over north Georgia, but none currently in Atlanta. Most of the users who are active are in the NW/NE Georgia ex-burbs and further north (like Rome, Dalton, Blue Ridge, etc). The Jasper (462.675) and Pine Log Mtn (462.625) have the lions' share of activity. Both of these repeaters have mobile coverage well into the city of Atlanta and points south.
