5 taken to hospital after Gwinnett County 911 center hazmat call - CBS46 News

Any more info on this? Obviously you won't hear much on a scanner since most talkgroups are encrypted, and Gwinnett county officials don't like to talk much on camera.

I have heard this was from a halon discharge. Was their a fire or a malfunction of the system? No backup 911 center?

Really must suck to live in a county where they keep everything a secret.

Just caught the 5PM news cast, Erica Byfield was doing a live shot outside of the 911 center. She said she was "exchanging emails with officials" who told her the center was still closed (as of 1700) and calls were being taken in the GCPD mobile command unit in the parking lot, and dispatching was being done from the police precincts.

According to the WSB-TV report, something set off the halon system, a tile fell on 1 employee, 5 were transported with complaints of not being able to breathe. 1 still in the hospital as of the broadcast.

The center is still closed pending damage cleanup, again, citing WSB-TV.

Sad how nothing is on the Gwinnett county homepage. But not at all unexpected from a county that is "too darn conservative" to communicate with it's citizens.
