GMRS Channels 23 - 50 ?????
I see there are some radios offering this, though they come without the CTCSS or DCS tones. I am unable to find a list of what these frequencies are or even if they are legal. Can someone point me to a list of the 28 frequencies that radios have been adding lately?

This is nothing but a marketing ploy to see how many people they can suck in!
You have a ttl of 22 channels and that's it on the bubblepak radios, regardless of the pl/dpl options.

I have considered that. It does sound like a marketing ploy. But see here:
Amazon.com: Midland GXT1000VP4 36-Mile 50-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radio (Pair) (Black/Silver): Electronics
Here is an amazon link to a Kenwood set. Looks to be very quality. You can see it even has "50" on it for the channel, which makes me wonder. Now I suppose it could be fake, but Kenwood I think would be taking an awful chance with that.
You can also see in the description that it claims 22 channels plus 28 extra channels, NOT including the pl tones. I know some of them are likely weather channels, but what are the rest?

Thomas what they are doing here is tacking preset pl tones on duplicate channels ALREADY in the radio to create the addition, so you STILL are actually getting only 22 separate channels in spite of their claims!
The 36 mile boast is nothing but crap as well!
I hope the marketing firm for those radios gets their a** chewed by consumers for their feeble attempt to mislead!
I hope I've helped you.

Yes yew have. I figured it had to be something like that but I wasn't sure how they did it. Now I know. I was not aware of any 28 new channels opening up and I do try to keep on top of that so I figured they had to be "exaggerating" somehow, I just wasn't sure how they were doing it. From what yew are saying, they are taking those 22 channels already and just adding PL tones to them? Is that right?
NEVER did I believe the 36 miles bit. Not that I don't think it can be done at 5 watts, because I *do* believe that. But conditions would have to be JUST RIGHT and none of us are likely to find ourselves in any such few positions any time soon.
Thanks for clearing that up for me. It is pretty much what I expected. Though I would like to see a list of the frequencies and PL tones they used for those channels. Does anyone have one? One thing the autism gives me is an insatiable curiosity. About ALL things.

I think he's asking what the preset channels on these radios use. Like ch 23 is 'a' frequency and 'b' PL, and ch 24 is 'c' frequency and 'd' PL, etc.

Thomas if you do not have actual specs on your radios from midland,
here they are including frequency and TONES.

I called Midland's factory on this. They are not different (extra) channels, they are the same channels with DCS tones already programmed.

I recently acquired a pair of Midland GTX1000 GMRS/FRS radios and was surprised to see that their documentation does not give any details about their “28 extra” channels; except two small footnotes that say that the power on channels 34-37 is fixed and that no privacy codes can be programmed on channels 23-50. So, after a little monitoring and a lot of button presses, here is what I uncovered....
XTRA CHNL No/ DUP. CHNL & Freq/ PRESET CTCSS No. & Freq/ DCS No. & Code
23 GMRS1 462.5625 38 250.3 hz
24 GMRS 3 462.6125 35 225.7 hz
25 GMRS 5 462.6625 32 203.5 hz
26 GMRS 7 462.7125 29 179.9 hz
27 GMRS 15 462.5500 26 162.2 hz
28 GMRS 17 462.6000 23 146.2 hz
29 GMRS 19 462.6500 20 127.3 hz
30 GMRS 21 462.7000 17 118.8 hz
31 GMRS 2 462.5875 1 023
32 GMRS 4 462.6375 4 031

Yep, all midland marketing has done is take advantage of people who haven't done the homework to educate themselves from all the technobabble that manufacturers like to use to confuse consumers to make their profit!

Correction to earlier
My appologies for the poor formating on my earlier post regarding the preprogramed extra channels. And nd5y, thanks for your reposting the chart for easier distribution. HOWEVER, I now see a typo that snuck in for channel 33.....the DCS SHOULD BE 7, code 047....NOT 6, code 043.

On the Midland, I find it handy when handing one of them off to another party not familiar with PL programming, to just use one of the preset "extra channels", although we all know it is a total misnomer. Thus if we agree to use CH 35, I can guarantee he will not be running the wrong pl.
And since this is an FRS low-power freq that doesn't allow for changing power levels, I can guarantee that he will not be killing his battery prematurely. Of course that means that we know that the low power link works beforehand...
As long as they can change the channel, and leave the volume up, the presets are kind of handy for use to keep the unskilled on freq, power, and pl.

I called Midland about this. The other 28 channels are used from the original 22 channels with their random tpl/dpl codes already programmed. The key word here is "channels", not frequencies. There is a difference.
