Default MURS Built in!

I was thinking about the old Nextel Direct Talk (Handset to Handset) function, I still have a half dozen that work...and how back in the 70's you could order your Caddy or Buick with a built in CB (built into the FM Stereo).

I can see where as part of an Off Road or Outdoors type package in 4x4 trucks, SUV's or Jeeps it would be cool to have a MURS radio built right into the truck. Sort of On-Star like, it may have a hands free mic, and sound through the speakers, maybe a controller built into the stereo, PTT on the steering wheel.

I know for off road enthusiasts this would be cool, and compatible with existing MURS radios. One could even venture as far as saying it could be available on commercial work trucks.

Just an idea.

I think they should be required on all vehicles so that we can tell other motorists what we think of their driving.

Sort of like that proposed service a few years ago where you could call and punch in a license plate # and if that person was also a member it would call their cell. I'm thinking thats too accessible.

I thought that's what hand signals were for.

Thumbs down CB

That was how CB was until potty heads started all the foul mouthing each other and running excessive power. Do we really need that in every vehicle? I can just imagine the chaos with everyone swearing and threatening to shoot another driver because they cut them off. Or talking over each other so no one can hear a thing. 11 meters all over again.!

No, I don't think it is for everyone. But guys with 4x4's going off roading or guys in work trucks going to and from work sites together...would be cool. And, they wouldn't need to hang a CB on their truck.

The hand signals worked great up until Obama took office.
Now everyone is so heavily armed that I'm afraid to use the hand signals for fear I'll get shot at.

If only there was a way to make remarks to the other drivers where the origin of those remarks was unidentifiable....
