Default Edacs Issues on the GRE 500

Well i ordered my GRE 500 on Friday .. should be here in the next few days.

There are 2 things that worry me .. that i have read on this forum.

First .. can someone please tell me if it can track Edacs patched groups ?

Second .. is it true that the 500 misses some of the transmissions on talkgroups on Edacs systems ?

Actually i have verified that the 500 does have an issue on Edacs systems .. or at least one Edacs system.

It is actually going to the wrong LCN .. i have seen (and heard it) it with my own eyes /ears. It was displaying a talkgroup but the audio was definitely not that talkgroup. It was displaying a police talkgroup on the display but the audio was an EMS dispatch talkgroup. It is on the same system .. just different talkgroup.

I know that a friend of mine has sent some info to GRE for them . . I dont know if it is just the settings he has on his radio, but i will be surely comparing the 500 vs my BC246 and a borrowed LPE200 i will have for a few weeks, when i get my GRE on about Tuesday.

Has anyone else seen that the 500 goes to the wrong LCN on an Edacs system ? (Btw .. the accuracy was showing about 93-98% on the radio)

I have seen this problem in my area in long island ny. The county system and the port authority bled over some talkgroups. Since their rebanding i havent seen the problem.

I'm thinking I am the one who got this topic going on this forum. The latest update after tweaking the settings, 4 out of 50 transmissions were missed due to the radio switching to the wrong LCN or cycling the control channel.

Doing the above test with a Uniden 396 side by with the GRE, the Uniden out right missed 3 transmissions.

I now have my 500 .. and have programmed it up with a basic system (18 LCN Edacs system with about 40 talkgroups for now).

I haven't done any firmware updates yet ... but will on the weekend. I will be trying it out to see if there are problems .. and will let everyone know.

For those of you that are wondering .. BRECHTD above is using the same Edacs system as i am. So i should be able to see quickly if we are getting the same results.

are any of the ones that are having problems in areas that have been re-banded?

I know EDACS is not effected by rebanding, only the frequencies change. But just checking.

Well i have had my GRE500 for a week now .. and havent noticed any issues on Edacs. So .. i recommend that my friend redo his scanner as it appears to be a setting issue and not the scanner itself.
