Default DO you like your GRE psr 300 radio???

What do u like most about it, for it being a non-digital capable radio, if you like it, and if you don't like it, what would you have bought instead???

I have one and the one thing I like about it is it does EDACS, Motorola, and LTR system tracking. That is probably why it stays on my desk, just monitoring all the local non-digital trunked systems. I leave it plugged in and do not use batteries in it. The most problematic or pain-in-the-bottom issue with it is, as with all GRE made scanners, it has a tendency to overload on VHF frequencies caused mainly by my lcd computer monitor.

Would I suggest it to others? - If you do not need a Digital Trunking Scanner, yes I would.

The audio may be slightly louder on the PSR-300 than the BC246T. The PSR-300 is bigger than the BC246T. It uses four batteries instead of the two that the BC246T uses. It only supports 1000 channels (100 channels per 10 banks) per bank as opposed to the 1600 Channels on the BC246T. The PSR-300 has banks instead of the way the BC246Ts memory is layed out. The PSR-300 will not do I-Calls as where the BC246T will. If you are looking for a simplified BC246T for just monitoring the analog systems with no need for I-Calls, the PSR-300 is it.

I suggest checking out the Wiki pages for each unit for more info on what is different.

Pros and Cons based on my own use as a primary scanner.....

Pros:
Price (less than 1/2 price of digital scanners)
Sensativity (I can hear cities that I SHOULD NOT be able to hear)
Features ( I think Uniden finally caught-up, but there are still a few things that the 300 has that others don't in this class)
Battery Life (a champ with 4xAA rechargeables

Cons:
Sound (clear, but harsh and it is tough to adjust volume at low levels, gets loud too fast)
Does not work well with headphones / external speakers
Took a long time to get PC-support out.
Case wears quickly.

Other than that, I can say that it was far better than anything RS or Uniden when I bought mine a year ago. May be different now, but I am very happy with it. I can hear all that I care to listen to, and then some.

A second for the 246T, or the soon to be replacement 346XT...
size as well the 246T is pretty tiny for a scanner.

Nothing wrong with GRE just head to head the 246T wins.

If the PSR-300 is like my older PRO-97 then the audio should be much better.
The last time I tried a BC-246 is sounded like a dixie cup.
