Default Remote head for the GRE/RS scanners.

Why haven't the product people at GRE made a remote head for the new scanners?? If Uniden can, why not GRE?? Won't be buying a new digital until there is a remote head and MotoTRBO.
Had to get it out

While not directly GRE, Don S. has a pocket PC program to control the 500/600:
Win500: PSR-500, PSR-600, PRO-106, PRO-197 Scanner Software for Data Management, Monitoring, and Control

Aware of that. Don't want to tie up my scanner to an online feed. Or, add an app to my phone. Truly would like to see a remote head to work with the newest digital GRE scanners. If Uniden can do it, why not GRE. Why not make the scanners smaller too. My friends 396XT sounds as good as my 106.

This might be difficult in the current generation of GRE's because the volume and squelch controls aren't digital like they are in the Unidens.

I'm with you on MotoTRBO, but that may have to be in the next generation for both brands.

Well then why not get an XT and a remote head?
Your happy with the decode, and you get your wish for smaller size too

Run them side by side... get the best of both worlds

as for TRBO.. well im guessing youll have to wait a while for that one

I sent off an eMail to GRE inquiring as to why the volume in the earpiece is so low and having to turn the volume all the way up to hear anything decent when an earpiece is attached.

Here is the reply:

"The design of the PSR-500 is such that the volume is attenuated greatly for any device that is connected to the earphone jack, to prevent possible hearing damage that could result if full power of the audio amp is accidentally routed to headphones.

It is possible to circumvent this by connecting the shield of the earphone connector to an internal ground in the radio, for example, the antenna connector shield. Although this is a simple modification, please understand that as with any modifications it should be done with caution and would be at your own risk. However, doing so will provide full power to the earphone connector. You can test this without opening the radio by using a piece of wire to short the earphone jack shield to the antenna connector shield outside of the radio."

I also inquired on MotoTRBO. If they were going to do an upgrade for the 500 or a new radio.

Here is that reply:

"We are very interested in TRBO but it won't be an upgrade for this radio. TRBO will require all new DSP hardware."

Are you offering to buy me one to experiment with?
