Default GRE PSR 300 AC Adapter outputs 12 Vdc?

The voltage output of my PSR-300 AC adapter is 12.34Vdc not 9 Vdc as the adapter indicates and the manual recommends. I have been using it for about 2 years now with no problem. I'm not sure if this is normal but the scanner works fine with it. Anybody noticed this too?

most all AC adapters put out more volts then listed when tested with a voltmeter.

nothing unusual here.....

I hope you're right SquierStrat. Just curious because all the radios I have owned typically would put out + or - 10 % of the nominal output voltage. Thanks for the reply. Anybody more who owns the same scanner and adapter?

Just to clarify. The reason you measure higher voltage is because there is no load (curren drain) on the power supply. If you could measure it when it is connected to your scanner (a "load"), then it should show the right voltage.

I realize most people don't care, but a little basic electronics knowledge can be very useful to scanner listeners. Basic Ohms Law and DC theory would take just an hour or two to learn.
