Default Pay store to Program PSR-300 or not?

When buying a new PSR-300 some online stores offer to program your county or surrounding counties for you before they ship it to you. Is it worth the $70 to $105 for them to program it or is this something I can do myself without problems? Please let me know your thoughts and opinions on this.
Thank You Very Much for your advice and help!

No. Spend the extra money, which is $35, to get WIN97 and program it yourself that way it is set up they way you want it and can change it when and how you want to.

Hell no.....buy Win97 and a premium subscription to RR and do it yourself.

You invested in a hobby by buying the radio, learn how to program it and it'll so much more enjoyable.

Gatorade

I can't believe those places want to charge that much money to program a scanner. I'll program it for you for half that price, even then it's a rip-off.

the only way to get to know the in's and the out's of the scanner is to do it yourself.learn how to hand program it too.you'll be "on the fly" someday, and will have to do it.

No store is going to know how I want my scanner set up. I doubt they would know how you want your scanner set up.

The "maximum" you would spend here by doing it your self would be about $85.00

35.00 for programming cable
35.00 for software
15.00 for 3 month premium membership to import like the frequncies (& other info) ) like YOU want them.

and chances are ya could get by with the 30 day FREE trial on most packages or even use the free S/W That is out there now.
Also if ya don not want the premium Sub, you can always use Copy & paste for free.

Yup.

You'll learn more and enjoy it more if ya do it yourself and as cheaply as possible to boot......more $$$$ for more toys!

I have 7 or 8 different set-ups made up for mine each one for a different location so I can just load it and go. The store is never gunna anticipate how you want it set up, and trust me in the first month you'll have a dozen different files, each one tweaking the last on how the radio is programmed.

Save your money, buy the old lady some roses or sumthin'.....you just bought yourself a new toy and ya may get hooked and not see her for a while.

Thank You All Very Much! I will not be paying someone to program it for me. Doing it myself will give me exactly the what I want, I hope.
Thanks Again for all of your advice.
