Question Going to go digital...

I have an old radio shack portable scanner Pro 51 that I am getting ready to retire. The hardest thing about this is that I want to get a digital portable. Only 3 to choose from, well really 2 since 2 out of the 3 are made the same. I live in an area that is all analog, but I travel across Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. I am going more towards the GRE instead of the Radio Shack or Uniden. Mainly because it is just cheaper and seems to be just as good if not better than the other 2.
I have two question for now on this digital system stuff. And it is.... are you able to scan and listen to digital systems along with analog systems at the same time? And does all of the info for the analog stations show up on the display as the digital stations do?
I am sure that I will be posting a lot of silly questions like this one, so please take it easy on me.

Thanks, Scott

GRE and RS digital scanners are the same thing other then cosmetic location of features. All digital scanners will scan both digital and analog. Only difference in displayed date is the letters DG will alternate during any digital transmission. Of course, one need not look during these transmissions as they will be easily recognized by ear.

Edit: The RS 106 does not offer a wall wart or programming cable, which may cost 50 bucks extra for both, The GRE 500 has both in the box. The RS 197 has a wall wart but no programming cable which RS list at 32 bucks. The GRE 600 has both.
