Default New PSR/500

Hi all, I'm new to this forum and this is my first post. I just ordered a PSR/500 from scannermaster and I had them program the frequencies (Harris County) for me, I would like to know who is from the Houston area and knows how to work this scanner so that I could get some help with it. I should be getting the new scanner in about a week or so, but I know allready that I'm going to have questions. this is my email mr.stetson@gmail.com your welcome to pm me to let me know if your from my area and maybe we can get together when my scanner is delivered to me. Thank you and hope to hear from you guys.

Welcom to rr.com mrstetson!

You may also want to post in the Texas forum to see who is local to your area.

Also, you may want to purchase software to program your PSR-500. It makes programming and managing that scanner much, much easier.

Take care,

Warren

I agree with buying the software to go with your new PSR500. I am new to scanning also (about 1 month). I also jumped in with both feet and bought the PSR500, so I'm only about a month ahead of you on this same learning curve (PSR500 plus programming s/w).
There are several software vendors out there for the PSR500. The two that come to mind are WIN500 and ARC500. I own both. I would recommend buying the WIN500 software. (Win500: PSR-500, PSR-600, PRO-106, PRO-197 Scanner Software for Data Management, Monitoring, and Control). You can try out the software for 30 days before you buy it. After spending $500 bucks on a scanner, it will be the best $35 you have ever spent. Without software, trunking scanners are a BEAR to program (particularly for a newbie).

Good luck,

Dennis

Another option is PSREdit500, originally released shortly after the PSR-500 hit store shelves.
