Default 500 P25 Auto/Manual

I'm not sure if this should be in the software forum or not since it pertains to WIN500, but what is the difference between the P25 AUTO and P25 MANUAL modes? I have a feeling it may be about setting the "Trunking Tables", but what are these tables used for? A P25 simulcast system I'm trying to monitor has choppy audio and I thought that messing with the trunking tables might fix something.

It doesn't just pertain to WIN500, that is a setting in the scanner that allows you to choose whether or not the scanner automatically gets the trunking table info from the P25 system, or you can set it yourself on some systems that would require it.

Most all P25 9600 baud systems use "P25AUTO like the ILL Starcom Digital System....When we rebanded the system the P25 tables are set automaticly....When you reband a Motorola TYPE11 3600baud digital-analog system you set the "tables" to Custom and use the first two bandplans as printed on one of the "postings" in the GRE board...Choppy transmissions are not gonna be helped by the tables....Better antenna, too far away from the system towers and multipath towers are the problems to be looked at.....
