Default Backlight question.

Forgive me if this has already been answered. There are just to many settings on todays scanners. I have a GRE PSR-300 My question is, Is there any way to set the backlight to come on by itself when it receives a transmission?

I would appreciate the help.

Go to your settings for Alert LED, you have a choice of ON, OFF , or FLASH.
It must be set on the OFF position now, so just select ON or FLASH if you wish.

Default Hmmm?

I don't see this setting anywhere in the settings. Are you sure the PSR-300 has it?

Thanks.

Short answer is no, the PSR-300 doesn't have an LED and you cannot set it to turn the back light on when a transmission comes in. That only applies to the PSR-500/600.

Thanks for the quick answer. I didn't think the 300 had that feature. I did however by complete accident get the backlight to come on with a transmission, but I have no idea how I did it and I could not receive any trunked channel's at the time. Also the G was lit up when this was happening, if that makes any sense to any of you. I am a complete scanner newb.

Thanks Again.

The answer above in other posts applies to the PSR-500, not the PSR-300.

The backlight works pretty much the same in the PSR-300 as it did in the PRO-97. You can turn it OFF, turn it ON, or have it time out automatically. There is a trick to get it to turn on with a signal - sort of. I recently wrote this same reply in another thread, so a search would have already found it.

Turn on the scanner. After it is on, press and hold LIT until the scanner beeps. The light is now ON. Press MAN and go to one conventional channel of your choice. Make sure PRI is off. After a period of inactivity, the scanner will go into "power save mode" and turn off the backlight. When a signal is received, the backlight will come on. In order to make the backlight come on when a signal is received during SCAN mode, a hardware modification is required.
