Default GRE PSR-300 Hissing

Hi. First I want to thank those of you who have helped me with all of your advice. I am having a problem (well I think it's a problem) with my new GRE 300. I am getting a hissing sound with every transmission I receieve now. It is not a static noise sound, it sounds more like someone letting air out of a tire. I have the factory rubber antenna and a new outdoor antenna that is mounted in my attic and I get the hissing sound with both of them even when the signal meter is showing full. My question is, is there any way to fix this or is it normal?

I would appreciate any help once again.

Tom

Constant hiss - GRE 500

This is standard operation for all of the GRE-built radios, it seems. My PRO-96 does it as well as my PSR-500.

Ok, then I guess I can deal with it. Now I have another question. I am getting the impression from these forums that, it is a bad idea to charge your batteries while they are in the scanner. This is how I charge mine. Is there a reason why this is not a good idea?

Thanks.

theres a chance one of your batteries might not be quite as good as the other 3 and start leaking acid in the scanner while charging. that probably wont happen but its not impossible. i dont do it cuz the charger inside the GRE scanners is so weak, that even after 16 hours, a set of 2500mah batteries is still not fully charged.

Default Thank you.

For all of the help you people are giving me. I am learning a lot. I heard my first MA State Police pursuit yesterday. It was pretty intense listening in on that.

Thank you again.
