Question PRE-300 and SAME

I tried to test Same and got one peep was that what I should
have heard? I fallowed the directions on page 33 and 34 of
the manual. My local freq. is 62.550 MHz. On the display
it states weather 7 and it tells me that I set 2 codes. (which I
did).

Also I stored the codes in storage location 1 & 2 was that ok.
When same is on standby mode (FUNC + WX) how do you
know when it is turned on. the screen did not change like
when I turn off/on pri.

The manual is clear as mud. as I go threw the menu one page
at a time.

One more Q. on page 42 of the manual do I have to set WX 7 (which is where my freq. is at)
as the Priority to get same to work or not.

When it is set up right what I want is to have it scanning and when NOAA sends out an alert
I want to hear the message. but the manual is still getting clearer with mud the more I read it.

If you have it set for SAME it is in a standby mode and you will not hear anything unless it gets toned out. You can't scan and be in the SAME standby moode.

So If I want to scan I should set it as a Priority CH.? Will It only say the alert
and not the 24 hr. weather if I set it up that way?

That is probably not a good idea, the weather is Continuous broadcast so it would stay glued to that frequency & that would be all you would hear, at least that's the way I see it.

So it looks like the only thing to do is when I think the weather is
going to change it to put it in same mode and not scan.

Thats the way I understand it, IF I am wrong I am sure someone will correct us soon> probably best/better off buying a $50 weather radio for that chore

I suspect a typo, and the frequency you intended to type is 162.550. That is the frequency pre-programmed in to weather channel 7 of the scanner.

First I pressed WX. Then I pressed FUNC WX. The display shows:
(third line) FIPS:
(fourth line) SAME Standby

Did you get that? It looks very clear to me. As some have stated, although perhaps not 100% clearly, you can NOT run in WX SAME mode while in another mode, such as scanning.

Actually, mud is clearer.
