Question PSR-600 Display question

First of all I'm new to our P-25 system, second of all I did not do my own programming. Unsure of what software was used as well. I'm thinking it was ARC 500, Its on my PSR-600 & 500.

My question is, during good clear active traffic the display shows a "DG" in front of the trunking frequencies and during traffic that is a bit broken up or nothing is heard, there is a "VC" in front of the frequencies. could someone explain this for me ?

I plan on getting into the programming end of my scanners but I have a lot to learn still.
I also have been researching all I can as to fine tuning them as well

Thank you !

VC = Voice channel, DG means AGC ( automatic Gain control) is on , dg means it is off.
