Thumbs up Psr-700

I love it!!

I know it's pretty much the same as the RS PRO-107 (of which I now have only 1, which, btw, is for sale down in the classified section (shameless plug LOL)), but the 700 is a joy to operate while I really never did "get into" the 107.

The keypad layout itself makes it head and shoulders above the 107. Add the facts that it has 50 scanlists and V-folders and I have to ask myself why didn't I get one of these babies instead of buying 2 107's? Temporary insanity I guess.

It was, by far, the best Christmas gift I received this past Christmas.

I agree-got a PSR-700 for Xmas and love it. Just wish I could find a case that fits it.

I love my 700.... I have other scanners that I use quite a bit, but the 700 is nice to grab and go, and when you end up somewhere new you can just add it on the fly. I am with sfreiman though, I want a case for it... and the scanner master cases just wont work...

What I don't understand is why Scanner Master continues to advertise that this case fits the PSR700 when they've been told it does not. I also have been waiting awhile to receive my refund back for my returned case. The person who handled my RMA did not seem empathetic at all to the fact that the case did not fit. I know others really seem to like Scanner Master, but I honestly have not had great customer service experiences with them. In today's fast-moving business climate, they really need to step up their game.

I too received one from Santa. I love it. The black rubberized case makes it seem rugged, almost industrial. It was a little hard to get used to, like pushing the "play" button after powering on; finding the signal stalker; realizing the squelch knob isn't the volume, and finding the volume, etc. I seldom read manuals.

Though at first I was a little worried. I put it next to the 500 and the 500 was stopping on signals that the 700 would fly right by or catch after about 5-7 seconds.

So, I updated the library and reloaded everything new and it now it works as well as... if not a little better than the 500. Well, on conventional channels only, of course ; )

For conventional and even trunked, I actually find that my 700 beats all my other scanners by about a second or so... If I remember the scan rate quite high on it... For the money, and if you can get used to the concep V-scanners and object oriented scanning, it's one of the best scanners out there. I like being able to add entire systems right from the scanner, when I happen to be in a place I don't already have programmed.

i know that i always jump to their defense. there are maybe 1 or 2 people there that seem to be a little "touched in the head". if you don't get good result's with them, ask for "sumner" or if you can,ask to deal with the owner, rich barnett. they are both great to deal with. for a few order takers,it's not their primary job. you just kind of got to learn how to deal with them. in the end,it all works out.

again. not affiliated with scannermaster in any way. i've just had dozen's of excellent experiences with them.

Universal Radio list the Psr-700 as a DISCONTINUED model. The only GRE they so list that way.
Although with the factory closed all there models seem to be DISCONTINUED.
