Default PSR 310 Display Question

I took my recently purchased 310 to the races this weekend preloaded with freqnecies for many of the drivers using the Win500 software. Many of these frequencies had CT tones; some I was able to enter, and some the software would not accept. Those that I could not get the tones to enter I just left the settings to "Search" which I understand allows the scanner to find the correct tone.

While at the race I noticed when the scanner would lock on various frequencies, the screen would display the option for me to "Stor" the channel along with a lightning bolt to the left of the word "Stor".

Can someone tell me what the lightning bolt means? I have searched the owners maual but can find no mention of a lightning bolt.

Thanks!

You might want to consult the 'Easier to Read' manual next time as it tends to be clearer.

The "lightning bolt" is just to tell you that it has found some type of tone on that frequency. You can see it under A Look at the Display and Manual/Program/Pause Modes and 5th Line.

Thanks for the help! This scanner is so different from the last handheld I owned back in the early 90's. There is quite a learning curve I have to conquer, and this Easier to Read Manual appears to make info easier to find along with read! Is the printed and bound version printed in color?

I would think so, but do not quote me on that. I've never had the need to purchase the printed version since it's available online. I'm sure there are plenty of people around here who have purchased it before and can tell you for sure if it is in color or not.

Default Easier to read

If you look at the top of the page of the online version it says it's formatted in color.

While setup to search for a PL tone, and the lightning bolt appears when activity with a pl tone is present, the "Stor" option appears, allowing you to program/store that found pl tone into memory without having to go through the menu process.

From now on, that memory will have that PL associated with it, and will no longer search for a tone.
