Default Just Purchased

I posted in another area but can't remember where.....

Just purchased a GRE-PSR 800 Coupla' questions for someone more of a scanner person than I

I understand that I'll be able to monitor P25 Phase II in the 700Mhz. range and I'm wondering if there is anything I'll need to do special to this scanner in the form of Software up-dates and when Should I do it....The System I'll be monitoring doesn't go online until February .....Possibly

I'm in the SJ Area, Work in Philly and enjoy monitoring the Philly Transmissions......Will I be able to hear those including thier talk groups ?

Anybody with some knowledge on these things would be great.....Otherwise seems like a very sharp device

I'm not familiar with your area, but has your PSR 800 been upgraded with the new firmware that GRE released back in October to receive P25 Phase II?

The GRECOM EZ Scan software updates do not have the newest firmware. You will need to go out to GRE America, Inc. - Powered By Kayako SupportSuite and download the GRE PSR-800 Phase 2 public beta upgrade 2 firmware update. I have done the updates without any issues and my system has not even switched to phase 2 yet.

I am browsing through posts trying to answer my questions on my 800 I just got yesterday. I just want to make sure I understand you correctly. So even though I had my new scanner programmed at the dealer and I'm using it on P25 phase II, I will still need to go that link posted and update the brand new unit? Is this why I'm not picking up The Colony, Tx PD even though it's my first entry they have programmed in? Sidenote...The Colony just went digital a few weeks ago and are sharing on Plano's system. Thank you in advance for answers and input. I have just got to figure this out. Love the new radio! Will love it even more when I can hear what I truly want to hear. ~S.

I had Scanner Master program my PSR 800 with the new Phase II before they shipped it to me a couple of months ago. I don't know if Sally purchased her 800 from Scanner Master or not, but she might want to check with the dealer she purchased it from before making any changes. Also, might be able to get additional help in the Texas forum as to the particular system she is trying to monitor.

I just got mine at Christmas time and it doesn't have the upgrade (and I am not planning on putting it on the scanner at this time)

I wouldn't trust any dealer to do that job anyway since half the time the clerks don't know what they are doing.

But that is just me.

The fellow at Scanner Master said the technician they had would do it, so, therefore, I had to wait a couple of days for him to do so before they could ship it.

Thank you to everyone for the ideas and input. I did indeed purchase my unit from Scanner Master and it did come with the 1.6 version installed. I somehow erased it all over the weekend and was just now able to get the 1.6 reloaded and now want to put the 1.7 back in but am having issues. At least the screen isn't stuck anymore after I spoke with the tech at GRE America this morning and he walked me through re programming what they had in it. I will also take the advice of the one poster up above that said go to the Texas forums. Am just learning my way around this site. Thank you once again. I'm sure I will be posting a million questions in the near future regarding this baby. Sincerely, S.

One more little questions...Is the 1.7 update needed or will the 1.6 be fine? If I truly need the 1.7 then I will continue to try to figure it out. Thanks. S.
