Christmas and New Year's Eve are major holidays here in the States, but then you already knew that. Don't expect stuff to happen like it was the 3rd Wednesday of June. Most folks are either taking a vacation week or just leaving work early most days.

Hey guys,
does anyone know where the library files are located? For some reason, when i try to update from EzScan, I get a "cannot connect error". If I knew where the updated file address or url, I can download it and copy tit to EzScan. TIA

I can't imagine that under normal circumstances, the updates would require manual intervention each week. The (automated?) process must have encountered some type of error or other problem this week but I suspect it'll get fix after the holidays.

So where are these files located, GRE? Radio Reference?

I'm fairly certain the data gets pulled from RR and formatted and housed on a GRE server. The EZ Scan software knows where to find the files ...

FWIW - I'm running it here and it returns the results as expected (last was 169 12/22/2012)

Vince, I'd give it a week and if you still can't get the update by next Monday then send an e-mail to the boss of RR. The files are hosted on a RR server and RR holds the copyright, at least according to EZScan.

Thanks Sir. I've had this problem since I got my 800, three weeks ago. I uninstalled EzScan and re-installed, still same error.

Do you have a firewall on your computer or router that might be blocking access to the site? Or blocking downloads from the site? If you use a firewall then try entering RR web address in your firewall's white list.

There wasn't an update earlier tonight yet. Seems funny they'd update on Christmas week but not New Year's.

The update on Christmas week might have been setup before Christmas.

Default GRE Database updating

Geeze.....I just got a PSR-800 and didn't know the database was updated that often. I haven't even checked what the source is. Just updated the hell out of the software when I got it, then left it alone. Not sure why anyone should have trouble getting to the database server. I retired out of network maintenance and run an older sercurity appliance at home for a firewall. Nothing gets in or out unless I allow it. The GRE software did all its updates without any complaints or security changes from me. I suspected that it does everything through port 80. Wonder if anyone knows what IP (or URL) the software looks for and on what ports?
also....
If GRE does fold (hopefully not), will RR pick up maintaining a database?

Dave...

I just checked and the latest update is still not there. It'll be time for another one in another 2 days.

dgmaley, it's not necessary to get every week's update. I always do, but that's just me.

In the past when a week was "missed", we just waited and got the normally next scheduled update the following Saturday.... check Saturday afternoon - I'll bet we're back on track at that point.
