Should be fine as is, but you'll need to change the programming to swap out the changed frequencies (as you probably know) as well as set it to use the rebanding trunking table instead of the normal one.

See your manual on specifics or from this "easier to read" version (http://marksscanners.com/106_197/106_197.shtml) on "Custom Band Plan" using the entries from the RR WIKI here (yes, it says it's for Uniden, but the numbers are the same for all scanners) http://wiki.radioreference.com/index...iden_Rebanding Be aware that although this can be done manually on the 500, it's much easier using programming software.

"Default" is the normal band plan.
"Splintr" is the band plan for the Splinter systems (generally you won't need these unless indicated).
"Custom" is for non-standard entries, such as rebanded systems. Note, you'll need to enter the values manually for Custom.

Checking the database for Suffolk County, Massachusetts (MA), I don't see Boston EMS operating on 800MHz, only UHF conventional. Rebanding only applies to 800MHz, not for the UHF frequencies. I believe you are referring to narrowbanding. To monitor narrowbanded frequencies, you should change the Modulation under the EXPERT BELOW to NFM. If it's still a bit quiet, try using AudioBoost.
