Default EZ Scan and V-Folders

The EZ Scan software is making me crazy. Is there a way to take a Configuration that has only 1 V-Folder an only contains conventional frequencies and 1 trunked system and import that Configuration into a different Configuration that contains multiple V-Folders and systems?

If I understand you correctly, the easiest way is to open the EZ Scan Digital folder on your PC and copy the CDAT folder to another unused CDAT folder. For example:

copy the CDAT folder to CDAT_VS.001

or

copy CDAT_VS.003 to CDAT_VS.009

and then open the new folder(s) in EZ Scan and edit them.

What I am trying to do is merge two different configurations into one configuration that will end up with two v-folders in the new combined configuration.

I will try your suggestion later this evening when I get home and post the result.

Thanks

I know of no way to merge two V-Folders into one.

Not 2 v- folders into 1 but 2 configurations into 1 configuration.

I'm not sure what you mean by "configuration"

The EZ Scan software creates configurations of your profile of scanner settings, trunked systems, conventional frequencies, talkgroups, etc. These configurations are then copied to the scanner SD card. The software labels the 'setup" as a configuration (see SD) on EZScan tool bar).

In my case I created two configurations with two seperate names. Each of these configurations contain one v-folder with different names. Now I want to take the v-folder from one configuration and put that v- folder into the other configuration. Since the software does not have an export or copy paste function it does not look like what I want to do is possible without just recreating the entire v-folder in the other configuration - a lot of work due to the customization I have done on the Alpha Tags of several hundred frequencies and talkgroups.

Each V-folder is saved in a separate CDAT folder. I know of no way to merge two CDAT/V-Folders into one.

Thanks TroyMail for your input. It just confirms how primitive the EZ Scan software is. I have seen better programs written in the late 1980's than this. How can you not write or command to write software in today's day and age that does not contain and export and a copy and paste function. Not only does GRE take away the keypad but they also cripple us with poor software.

Ok I am done ranting, lol

Yes, I have rebuilt also several times. However, the area I live in has 12 different trunk systems and 47 independent dispatch centers. This results in a major number of frequencies and talkgroups for which I spent 30 hours building custom alpha tags. And because of clumsy, out dated software GRE causes users undue hardship to rebuild such configurations. I don't blame the software author because we know who built it and who has shown us that good software can be written. But, I do blame GRE for commanding the build of this junk. I have managed IT functions for over 45 years and I have seen better CPM software than EZ Scan.

Yep..................I just don;'t see them doing anything about it though. Especially with GRE in as much trouble as they are in.............

It would be nice if it was editable but I think we are going to have to live with it. There was a guy who was close to getting them to agree to let him do software for the 800, but things fell through early last year

Now, more than ever, GRE should let an "outside" software developer(s) write programs for the 800 (and 700 as well). Would definitely be a step (or ten) up. It's a shame they have to be so harda**ed about it.
