Default PSR-800 drains its batteries

I know I've read that the PSR-800 does not charge the batteries when it is turned on and plugged into a power source.
But it seems to continue drawing power from the batteries when turned on, even when plugged into a power source.
Is there a way to force it to run off the 5 volt power from the USB cable rather than the batteries?

Remove the batteries.

Mine doesn't draw any current from the batteries when the USB cable is powering it.

Ditto - I had my radio on USB power for more than a week and when I unplugged I had my full battery power that lasted for many, many hours.

Are you sure it's drawing power from the USB? Does the ICON show a battery or a plug when on USB power?

I don't think mine is draining the batteries.

Shows a plug.
This is with the cable plugged into a computer's USB port. Maybe it behaves differently when plugged into a 5 V wall wart.
When I unplug it from the computer, the battery icon is definitely lower than when it started.

Although maybe it comes back up after a while.
Another thing, it seems like the plug icon is displayed even when the computer is turned off.
So maybe the bottom line is that the battery/plug icon is unreliable.

It could also be that your computer still powers the USB ports when off. My wife laptop does this too.
