WTF people. He has the ATTenuator on. OP you are introducing around 20db degradation to your signal. Turn off the ATT and put the radio back together.

As scosgt said many posts ago.

BTW, the PSR-800 is hands down the best hand held P25 scanner ever made.

Hmm well I would have lost that bet. Did you zap it with static possibly? I bet it's an amp in the front end. I wish we had a schematic.

Just an FYI, I suggested that at the beginning of this thread.

Yea sorry I saw the other guy had too but missed you. The pic was misleading. Why would you have the att on when trying to compare the two?

Default Scanner Dead????

OK!
Time to take this back to square one.
There is no repair shop currently available for this scanner, but I do know the first thing a shop would do if you were to send this to them. You can do the same thing.
First, put everything back to the factory configuration. The PC software should allow you to format and load the default setup. DO IT.
Program in any analog frequency and stop the scan on that frequency. Open the squelch. Verify all kinds of white noise. Do this with no antenna.
Do you have a non trunking signal source in your area? In many places, the National Weather Service Transmitter can be clearly heard. Both scanners should sound the same. The analog portion has to work before anything digital will get in. The weather service button should be able to find it.
Let us know how it goes up to here....
Dave...

I know this is going to sound insanely dumb, but did you remove the earphone port cover?
Because on mine, some antennas will not snap all the way down with the ring for the cover in place on the antenna post.

I had tried to receive a analog single frequency and it wouldnt take. Played with the squelch in the same scenario. We do have NOAA where I live, and on my one PSR800 it would find the NOAA frequency no problem, but on this PSR800, it would continuinally scan looking for a signal. I still believe the RF is toast.

Sure sounds like it.................If you can't find a NOAA station and you know there is one in your area, I am positive that you have a receive problem.

That is normally the best way to test a scanner.

I have had some crazy displays on my psr-800 but never anything like shown in the picture.

The displays are missing the scan system info, Does the original scanner receive any signals ?
I would think the display would read "nothing to scan"

Does either receiver receive any of the weather channels ? Push the weather button (bottom
right corner) ???

open EZ-scan and select the "general settings" tab at the bottom of the page. When you look
at the box in the center of the screen, "scanlist control", are your loaded systems shown and
are any of the boxes checked as "enabled" ?

Please advise....
