Default hit counts

my gree 500 is just over a year old so i reset the hit counts to 0, and turned off hit counts and downloaded to the scanner, the hit counts were not very high so the memory might not of been damaged much

Question

I am sorry that I am a little late here. If it has been answered I am also sorry. Will this scanner also have the V-Scanner folders like the GRE's?

Thank you all for your time and help!

Well, I replaced the EEPROM in my PSR-600 tonight and it is back up and running just fine.
Not a hard task if you have the tools. Just need to be very careful with the ribbon cables and LCD display. There is a soldered shield plate over the logic section which IC-301 is underneath so that must be removed first. I'd forgotten that was there.
Once I made it to the chip, removal and replace was not hard at all being only 8 leads. All my V-Scanner files were still intact as they are stored on another chip. I could have just loaded one of those but I ended up writing a stored newer copy of my working memory via software.

Thanks to Don S for his contributions and confirming which chip is used for the working memory storage.

I had a new 436 from Uniden. I had computer trouble and it took 3 weeks. to get that resolved. I had only 30 days to return the scanner, after the comments on here, I did just that.

Does anyone have a download link for EZScan? I would like to try it out while waiting for the Whistler 1080 and 1095. Thanks!

It looks like GRE's Support link is broken where the file resides. I was not able to find any other links to the software. It is 40,284 KB in size. Maybe in a day or so it will be fixed. I don't think I can e-mail it to you because of the size. Here is the link.

GRE America, Inc. - grecom scanner receiver, lcd modules, spread spectrum radio, wireless bridge, scanner antenna, scanner pre-amps.

Given that they are essentially the PSR800 and 900, no.

I am neither a GRE/Whistler nor a Uniden fanboy. My money goes to the one which works best. If they both work like crap neither one wins. I'm waiting with baited breath for the early adopter reviews of the new Whistlers when they hit the streets.

Default Waiting for Whistler

Brand new to this forum. Long time scannist, but need a digital scanner now for LAPD. I have been waiting and waiting for the new Whistler 1040 to come out on the market. I might go with the Uniden 436. Have GRE 500 now and a few Uniden's over the years.

Anyways, just venting here, but lots of great info here on these forums. Hopefully it won't be too much longer....

Some are already being dumped on eBay.

I won't buy a scanner from a company that does a half-assed job. No brand loyalty here - I just want performance and a complete feature set.

Not if they don't have a full keypad. That's the main reason I went with my 396XT over the PSR-800.

Weird when I tried replacing the eeprom scanner would show weird characters on display... couldn't do the flash or anything... put original back in and it worked again. go figure...

The database is built in ,why do you need a keypad?
Then you have search and then you can STORE.
Or you can use service search or signal stalker its like close call.....
The up down left and right allow cursor moving for frequency entry.
Or you can use software to enter say P25 systems that arent in database.
