Whistler ws-1080 light

Just received my whistler scanner today, and noticed when I press the backlight button, the screen disappears for a second when the light goes on?!
Does this seem normal?

Whistler WS1080 Light

I have the WS1080. That's a fast click feature they give you to turn the back light on and off, clicking it once. It's not worth the trouble. Press "Menu/Settings and scroll down to LMModeEXT where you use the arrow key to tab to the right and set it for ON not key* or the other settings so you won't have to mess with it. The light will go OFF as you tab to get the correct setting but keep tabbing till you reach "ON" This way it comes on when you turn it on and stays on unless you don't want it.

My PSR-800s do that exact same thing. Though I've really never noticed it before you mentioned it. Personally, it really doesn't bother me. (Oh well... VBG!)
