I have a PSR-500 that I've been running on NiMH batteries for the past year. Lately I've noticed that it has birdies on the 46-MHz band. However, I just determined that the birdies aren't present when the batteries are freshly charged, only after they've been used a few hours! Has anyone else ever seen this, or is it unique to my unit?

I would do some testing. See if the same situation occurs when using NiCad batteries, and even akalines as the voltage drops.

Also, in order to rule out internal temperature caused birdies, test it on AC power. Maybe even DC corded power, from a power supply with a DC cigarette lighter outlet.
