What frequencies?

What antenna are you using?

Where is the antenna located?

How is the antenna connected to the scanner?

Just to be sure, you have 482.4125 NAC366? Do you have it in P25 mode?

Lowell channel 2 is full time encryption, so you won't hear anything on that.

Not if he put in the wrong freqs, or has a bad antenna setup and lives out of town.

I was in and around Lowell last week with a TRX-1 and simply pulled up the area from the US database on the memory card and it worked great.

I have downloaded the frequencies from the psr 800 software library.

The scanner screen shows:
Lowell PD
FM 482.412500
NAC 366

Lowell PD
FM 482.412500
CTCSS 146.2

Lowell PD2
FM 484.950000
NAC 366

That's basically what mine says although I have a lot of other freqs for public maint, etc. It appears the scanner database has both analog and P25 settings for 482.4125 and my scanner was buzzing with P25 police activity all last week when I was in the area.

P25 Help

I would like to know how to add P25 frequencies to my scanner.
I have tried to do so using the Grecom psr 800 software but find it confusing.
Also, is it possible to change the mode of a frequency in the scanner from FM to P25? If so, How?
Any and all help would be appreciated as it is important that I can monitor these frequencies.

P25 is a system type. FM is a mode. You can't change a system type to be a mode.

Sounds to me like you better stay with the ezscan software a while longer until you have a better idea of how to manually program. It is MUCH easier than doing it manually. Also, doing it manually requires some knowledge of systems types, sites, talkgroups, etc.

Whatever system you are trying to set up can be done in minutes, configured correctly, using the software.

If you are just trying to enter conventional frequencies manually, these still are available from the database, and also require some systems type knowledge to do manually.

I am trying to monitor the Lowell Police Dept. (Massachusetts).
Radio reference indicates that the frequencies system or mode is P25....but ez scan software loaded them as FM.

I have scanner and Broadcastify on at the same time.
I hear LPD transmissions on Broadcastify but nothing on scanner

sigh....Massachusetts has no unincorporated areas, so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt that he is actually in the place that he says he is.

It's only 14.5 square miles: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lowell,_Massachusetts.

I'll agree on the frequencies, but since he indicated a PSR 800, I would also deduce that it is the stock antenna connected directly to the radio. I know it can be hooked up as a base, but I don't think this is the case here.

I was picking up lots of Lowell stuff on a handheld scanner laying in the front window of a Jeep with stock rubber duck while in Methuen to the North and Lynn to the SE. It worked just fine.

Carl you can toggle through and check those three off and you will scan them but like Mark said using the software is a lot easier. I think it would go something like this Menu,Brouse Objects,United States,Massachusetts,...whatever country....I would image you get the picture now. Good luck
