Unhappy gre 500 and win 500 trouble

I was wondering weather anyone could help me with a problem I am having with my scanner. I've downloaded both talkgroups and frequencies for a mot trunked system using win 500. I am able to upload the info from win 500 to Gre 500 scanner but when I put it into scan mode I get no transmissions. I don't know if its the scanner but I have a radio shack pro 2055 that picks up the same transmissions I should get on the GRE 500.

Thanks

Which system are you trying to monitor? That may help us help you.

I think he means which system (in the RadioReference DB) are you monitoring? If you can tell us the exact link (or at least the name of the system, county, state) somebody may be able to help you better.

DId you enable the scanlist that the TGRP objects (talkgroups are in)? If so, when you press scan, do you see it scanning supposedly scanning that system?

Do you see any signal when it is scanning the system?

You should make sure you are able to hear the currently active control channel for that system. Go to that use TSYS / Analyze to arrow up/down through the frequencies to see if you are actually picking up the control channel.

Default problem solved

Mike

Thanks for your help. Your idea of checking the control channel got me to thinking. I went to my radioshack pro 2055 and found the cntrl channel for the same frequencies I have entered in the psr 500. Comparing the 2 I found that the control channel was not included in the download from radio refrence .com. I just entered the control channel from the rs scanner into the psr 500. Works!

That is indeed interesteing. If you have found a control channel that is not labeled a control channel on RR, go to that system in the RRDB and then click on Submit - From there, submit your finding. It would be good for that to be updated so that others do not experience a problem similar to yours.

I'm glad you have it worked out. I am guessing that when you imported the info from the RRDB you told it to do CC-ONLY - and thus it only imported the ones in Red in the RRDB.

855.71250 856.26250 856.93750* 857.26250 858.26250 859.26250 860.26250* 860.98750*

Was it one of those frequencies? If so, it likely isn't one of the ones with a * next to it (which would be Red in RRDB).

If you would, please do me a favor and go here - http://www.radioreference.com/apps/submit/?sid=2093

Submit the frequency that is a control channel but which isn't listed as one. Then when the DB admins have time they'll make the update.

Thanks

Mike
