When you are listening to the LA County Sheriffs Department, when the patrol unit talks to dispatch it makes a "Beep Beep Beep Beep" noise, I noticed that it makes that noise on the other sheriffs deputies radio also, how do they talk to each other W/O it making the beep noise ? Would they switch to a different frequency or do they have some sort of configuration on there radio to turn the encryption off ?

if it's a major incident and they need to stay on the main channel..they ask dispatch for the "patch." The patch takes away the busy signal and then all of the deputies hear eachother talking...but they usually switch them over to a tactical frequency asap
