Obama comes to LA
He is coming next week for a day and a half. What frequencies could you hear the SS talking on? Is it all encrypted?

Try these:
OSCAR 164.8875 NAC001
CHARLIE 165.3750 NAC001
SIERRA 166.5125 NAC001
The majority should be encrypted, simplex. You may get someone in the clear, it happens. Also since it's LA I'm sure there's going to be some increased traffic on other Fed channels. I would focus on those and search the VHF Fed band if your the searcher type. Don't forget the local PD and CHP.

As mentioned, besides the FED frequencies, you can also monitor the LAPD, CHP, Sheriffs; they always have ambulances and fire on standby wherever he goes.
One more thing; the aviation frequencies. You can probably hear when AF1 arrives.

I used to hear Marine One on 166.70 FM; when Bill Clinton and Leon Panetta flew into Monterey once in awhile...

Just received a post from another list that HMX-1 CH-53's were spotted over north OC this afternoon.
Anyone know when he is scheduled to arrive?

AF-1 will be arriving LGB on Wednesday at 3pm. At 4pm there is a scheduled town hall at the OC Fair Grounds. On Thursday President will visit a electric car factory in Pomona, and tape the tonight show in Burbank.

An official White House press release confirmed the Jay Leno appearance this morning. This might be the time to have one scanner programmed for listening. Another can be used to search the bands for new frequencies related to his visit...

I just heard on the news that he's going to be in Orange County, didn't say anything about going to LA. I wonder what airport AF1 will land; LAX, John Wayne or the military base?
Update: I guess he will be in LA also, he's going to be on the Jay Leno show.

My understanding as the above post mentioned AF1 is scheduled to land at Long Beach airport. I'll be tuning into CHP feqs for the escorts. Does anyone have any thoughts on military air security feqs?

Departs from Long Beach airport at 6pm on Thursday.
