Default CHP/ Riverside Co./ Indio Office / PL update

It appears the new PL (179.9 Z) is active as of yesterday... Dispatch center was having units communicate on the new Red 2. Does anyone know why they the techs. made the PL change ?

Apparently the planned PL scheme resulted in interference problems throughout the state. (Brain Trust Time). Many areas have undergone tweaks in the PL tones. Bakersfield just changed PL's on both dispatch channels in the last week or so. Also, some new channels have been added. Thanks for the Indio update, and I heard testing on the Border Blue East last week, 44.98 Mhz, PL 146.2, but maybe that PL has now changed too!

Mark, yesterday dispatching was on blue 2 while techs were changing pl on the red ( 42,440 ). I have not heard any traffic on blue-e yet. I will update RR when I do. Not really sure why border need 3 blue channels . I never really heard traffic on the blue out here. In L.A. You hear bolo and pursuits....out here ..nada.

Orange county will definitely have use of Blue-2 Border West, 39.24 Mhz, PL ?; the techs were testing it last week. Perhaps Indio and El Centro will use Blue-2 Border East, 44.98 Mhz, PL ?, and San Diego county will use Border Blue. Possible other Blue channels: 39.14 (may get new PL) & 45.18. We'll have to wait and see.

Remember, although the Border Division is not exceptionally large, it has some very high mountain ranges dividing the territory.

When the CHP was forced by the Legislature to have their plan peer-reviewed in 2006, they were told by numerous reviewers that the channel / PL plan would cause interference to/from other low band agencies around the country. CHP elected to ignore that input at the time. They've been playing fix-it ever since deploying.

I believe that 39.14 162.2 is Border Blue 1. I heard Oceanside using it for a short time this morning (about 8:30 ish), switching all units from Tan to Blue 1, and within 30 minutes back again. Possibly something wrong with Tan. I don't monitor Tan unless I am going that direction, so I don't know for sure.

39.14 is Border Blue-1. Maybe it's TAC 8 up north.

Don,
Did Blue 1 (39.14) totally replace Blue (42.34) as the statewide channel? with the same 42.18 input?
Or are they both statewide?

Steve

39.14 Mhz is licensed in about 30 locations most of which are in Southern Cal., and most of those locations area at truck scales and area offices. It can't be statewide because there aren't enough sites licensed for 39.14 to cover any large portion of the state. Check the FCC database.

39.14 has been used for many years, since it is licensed in few locations that suggests it is not a statewide channel. There won't be any statewide Blue after the new radio system is complete since the new Blue channels are replacing the old channel pair.

39.14 will be retained in some areas as a Blue channel, namely the Border Division and scattered use around the state.

This does not make sense... A motorcade or pursuit from San Diego to redding should be able to happen instead of C.C. (comm ctr. ) re-assigning new colors for the pursuit. Also units driving from sac. To san diego ....Really don't know where district boarders are ... 42.340 made a lot of sense to me.

Blue-1 was an augment implemented with the rollout of the GE RANGR mobiles. It has been used in the case of preplanned special events, and in areas (such as Border Division) that went to 39 MHz talk-out channels.
