It may be a while longer.

I've heard some programming issues have been identified among the LE users of the P25 system, so I would imagine the fire users will wait until those problems are resolved.

Thanks for the reply. I'm hoping that they maintain a presence on the analog system for as long as possible.

Remember: when listening to a Smartzone system, if there are no radios affiliated within the coverage range of the site you are currently scanning, you won't hear a particular TG even if they're using it.

Fire has previously stated they'll be "in the clear" but have access to two encrypted Command and two tac channels if needed.

I use to be-able to get the Mountain System 8 Analog system in Palm Desert no problem. It still works and fire is still running on it but I am not able to receive the new 700mhz Mountain Simulcast system now in Palm Desert. Bummer. I guess their repeater site is no aimed in that direction or something.

Default BDC P25

Just to confirm, the Fill in sites currently using the D-FIRE repeated frequencies are going full trunked, or remaining Fill in repeaters patched to the trunked systems?
Thanks

From what I have been told, the move from these sites to the conventional rebanded frequencies is temporary. Some have already begun the transition to P25 trunked operation. All 800 MHz conventional sites will eventually be P25 Phase 1 trunked when everything is complete.

It appears they're putting sites in service under their massive "temporary" countywide license. So, this may not be a reliable indicator of "a while".

Just heard Comm Center assign "2-Tac-5" for an incident that I believe was in the mountains somewhere.
