I think I'm done with Disneyland scanning... ;)
...well 'almost'. Some background...
I have tried for several years to snag all of the TGIDs associated with Disneyland's TRS. My trusty (rusty? ) tool has been a Uniden BC-780XLT with Trunk*Star software. The combination allows me to 'SEARCH' the system and catch new TGIDs that aren't part of my known list.
My recent experience with a Uniden BCD-996T leads me to believe that a lot of my previous experience has been chasing phantom decodes that are not really part of the system.
So my belief is that the TGID list on this board is probably as complete as we're going to get...

It is great to know what is going on when you are at the parks. You know when the rides are down or the wait time for them.

You should cross reference this against the information in the TRS database.
I am also very curious about how you obtained the list? What radio? Where was it located? What kind of antenna? What was relative signal strength? etc...
My previous experience with a Uniden BC-780XLT, with the supplied antenna, in a hotel < 1k feet from Disneyland is similar to yours. HOWEVER, when I tried the Uniden 996T in the same configuration, the number of 'phantom groups' has been reduced to ZERO. I think the decode on the 996 is just that much better than the 780.
My other observation is that enabling I-Call on the 780 made it more suseptible to decoding errors in the TGID SEARCH mode.

D-Land monitoring
Hello. I got the list from personal monitoring from 2.5 miles away with scanners like the Uniden BC780, BC245, and BCD396T scanners. I have used rooftop antennas like the AS MONR31, but this location is close enough with just a short 2 inch antenna, and the signal strength is full scale.

Well, it you're up for it...
My recommendation is to take all of these unknown TGIDs and put them in a scan list. Scan the scan list in 'closed' mode and disable the I-Call feature. Use the ID Tracker:
http://bellsouthpwp.net/k/d/kd5eis/I...tm#IDTrackerII
...and verify that those TGIDs actually produce real distinct voice and not phantom decode errors...

That's the problem with the Uniden gear.....you're going to get a lot of bogus talkgroups when you listen long enough and ignore/lockout/search past other active stuff. So I'm willing to bet that many talkgroups are in error, especially anything referencing phone patches.
Best way to figure this out is to use Trunker. Gleaming the info from the affiliation log or looking over the group TXT file and verifying more than a few calls were made (there's a counter for it) you can determine what's legit.
I use to drive up from San Diego and sit in the Del Taco parking lot with Trunker running. This was before any 900MHz trunktracker (I used an MTS2000) and scanners couldn't handle the spacing on 900; adjacent channel interference really hosed decoding. It's one of those interests that you don't understand unless you're doing it.

Well, you have to admit that they've come a long way from the 780 to the 996. The 996 seems to have a much more solid decode. I didn't realize how bad the 780 was until I ran the 996...

I'll agree, but the GRE is still the standard.
Back then the 235 I used (had the tap) was so bad, especially with locked TGs. Anything was an improvement.

Thats funny about the 'Frisco' thing... that was the first thing I thought of too =)
For those keeping score, 'Frisco' is sort of taboo in the bay area... they prefer 'The City' I think...
Or at least thats how it was 20 years ago when I was a young deadhead making my way to Grateful Dead shows first in San Francisco, then moving across the bay to the remote reaches of Berkeley and Oakland.

I'm local, I live 20 min north across the Golden Gate Bridge. Trust me, you're absolutely right - It is 'The City' or 'SF', or, here's an original idea: "San Francisco!" Every time I read Frisco though I shudder. Then again, her past posts here and on the bayscan yahoo group show a clear distain for the city and everyone living there. So my question is, if you hate a place enough, why don't you move? That would probably be a better solution than complaining about it all the time in scanner forums.
I'm going to end this rant because this thread is about Disneyland not SF, but please... if you're going to talk about Macys, then talk about Macys and the freqs they use and why it's entertaining to listen to. DON'T start complaining about 'Frisco' and how everyone there is snobby and you hate the whole place. It got old like six months ago!

...It's definetely not Kansas up there, thats for sure.
Come on Crista... three times, theres no place like home, theres no place like home, theres no place...
IMNSHO, and contrary to what Bill O'Reilly (and Crista I guess) would say, i found "the city" to be a great place to visit and live. Its embrace of freedoms not so embraced in... say, Kansas, are what attracts me to it... just got too exspensive for me.
Stuck inside of So Cal, with the Pomona Blues again....

Frisco! Frisco!
<sigh> Thread hijack! Sorry Buff.
I personally want nothing to do with "The City." I go there as little as possible. I think California would do a lot better without the politics and viewpoints that are pissed from that city/county.

Dragnet: "This is the city: Los Angeles..."
In Los Angeles, the LAPD refer to Los Angeles as "The City" when calling in a person's DL (or a suspect/vict info with address) if the person actually lives in Los Angeles and not another community in Los Angeles (like Van Nuys, Northridge, Brentwood, etc). I think they get if from the TV show Dragnet, where Sgt. Friday says in the opening monologue: "This is the city: Los Angeles, California. I work here. I carry a badge..." I am sure that many, if not most, don't even know why they say it. Just like many other customs in the LAPD, we just do it because we have always done it that way, or my sergeant did it that way. Monkey see, monkey do.

Referring to Frisco, I agree totally, but one step further: the USA could do without. But no, now we got Pelosi (from Frisco) third in line for President of the USA...God forbid!
Keeping on topic - I need to get over to Disneyland this coming next year to check out the new stuff and try out my scanner there. Last time I was there, I didn't have my BCD396T (or any trunk tracking scanner).

Hey all. First time poster here. I am a Disney geek and I borrowed my bosses Kenwood TriBander TH-FG and took it to the park today. I couldn't pick up ANYTHING. Does anyone have the patience to tell me what I am doing wrong?
Thanks a million!
