Default Ge Mp-a

Why are these things such a pain in the butt to find? I have browsed ebay for MP-A's ( Scan or Select models) and usually come up BLANK or with some POS that is inoperable. Why is this?

They are built to kill a pit bull, they last forever, they can be hamflashed and made front programmable.

The VHF's can be converted to hamflashed 220MHz radios something that's rare or non-existant in other commercial radios.

They come in VHF hi, UHF, 220 MHz, 800MHz and 900 MHz and it seems that they have all been bought up just like the MPD's and people just can't and won't part with them.

When you get your first MPA you just want more and more and more.

They're an old radio. Just like the Saber serie from /\/\. Difference is that there are a lot more sabers that were sold/used than M-pa, so they're gonna be more around. Less M-PA sold means less on the surplus market.

What are you looking for exactly?

Post 2 is more accurate. Just as many M-PAs were sold as Sabers, maybe even more, as they were a bit cheaper. There are just as many MA/COM shops as there are big M shops. There are still quite a few power users still using them ie US Navy, NYSP, Greenwich CT PD, Metro North Railroad, NYC Sanitation etc. I am repairing and replacing radios that are two models newer than the M-PA. The M-PAs seem to last forever and require very little.

They are even on the ISS. See the attached PDF
