M/A-COM P7100 - Dealers?
Forgive me as I am new to the M/A-COM world. I am having a hard time finding some way to locate a local dealer. I am looking to have an opt button reprogrammed as a talkaround, very simple modification. I am also looking for the best place to find a speaker mic. I found a couple of retailers online charging $95 but then saw someone on this board reference fmr-inc.com and the price there was $45 so with it being such a difference in price I wanted to ask here.

It looks like all those radios Sprint had to buy are on the mooove-----
FMR-New london know what they are doing so I would go with that.

Sorry I am not familiar with the Sprint purchase. These were purchased new however the dealer is pretty far away from us. I was looking for a closer dealer for a quick change in programming for the talkaround option. The regional entity that provided funding for the purchase made the choice on type of radio and who to buy it from so that was out of our hands.

Guess that would help. Austin, Tx area. Actually Northeast of Austin in a small town. Austin, Temple, Bryan are all close enough I guess.

No, they are replacing older radios of any type that cannot be rebanded with comparable radios that can be rebanded; many of the old EDACS portables are being replaced by P7100's--so keep your eye-rolls under control. Now do you still need to know why Sprint is doing this? They have bought a lot of Motorola's too. FYI

I am pretty sure Dailey-Wells has Texas wrapped up and they probably won't help you; Like I said before FMR would do it but I would be reluctant to let one of those get too far out of my hands, so maybe someone else will chime in??

Hmmm.. Headquarters in San Antonio, almost sure that is where they were programmed originally. Are there no dealers around because of popularity or is it just related to the agreements they have with M/A-Com? I can get Moto's programmed in a 15 minute drive and Kenwood's not much further. Like I said being new to M/A-Com I just figured there was someone closer than 120 miles away... Also just being one option button I would like reprogrammed and I would have to send it off...
EDIT: WOW their website is horrible. There are only about 2 links on the whole page that even work for me.

The problem is the newer radios require newer software; so it isn't easy. Programmer has been superseded by RPM, which has more security features like tying it to one computer and a few other things. If your radio was programmed with RPM it generally has to be reprogrammed with it. That model could be either way depending on the flash version.

I am familiar with almost every actual radio dealer listed on that page except maybe 1 and they cover Motorola, Icom, Kenwood and Vertex but none that I know of offer any M/A Com products. I guess I could call every one of them and ask if they can program one but I have a feeling that will be a huge waste of time.

You must not be able to read, I never said they were replacing P7100's (must be because of your rolling eyes.)
I know because I got 2 NIB M7100's and 1 P7100 to replace 2 FMD's and 1 MPA; Bought and paid for by Sprint-Nextel.
Only bad thing was I had to turn in the old ones to be scrapped. The MPA was a "cherry" system model.

I have 45 new P7100 / 5100s, 20 more LPE 200s that were re programed, and 5 new mobiles thanks to nextel.

You could contact MA-COM and ask them where the closest dealer is.

One of my friends is chief technician in charge of a large EDACS system and his opinion of the 5400 is that it is utter trash. They've had a FIFTY PERCENT failure rate on 5400s after a few months in service.
Good looks do not a radio make. (Personally, I don't even think it's a good looking radio. Ugly little spud...)
Avoid the 5400....so says my friend who has to deal with those dogs.
