Default 700p Data connection

Didnt want to hijack the other thread about the HDT debugger so I thought id post here.

Trying to find the pinout for the UDC on the 700p radio to use the data functions. When programmed and on the system i get RX Data occasionally on the display but no data to hyperterminal thru the RIB cable. Is there a different way to connect to the radio than the HDT/flash cable?

Thanks a ton in advance!

What are you using now? Genuine TQ3370 radio interface and genuine GE cable or at least one that's made exactly to spec?

I've found that I have to use that setup to get HDT data. Not even the genuine ribless M/A-Com programming/keyloader cable will work.

The Price box doesn't seem to allow flashing.

If you don't have a TQ3370, I think I've got a spare or two that I'd be willing to sell for a fair price.

I can access the HDT feature fine with my Price USB programming cable. As soon as i set the Data flag in Programmer, i lose the HDT and i get nothing out of the port unless i switch HDT mode back on in the FCC Menu. I wasnt sure if the data comes out a different set of pins or is actually RS-232 instead of the TTL logic used to program the radio. I'll keep playing with it but I cant seem to find many resources on the subject.

Remember that the data rate, parity and stop bits are set in the data screen in Programmer/RPM - by default it's 9600 baud and even parity, so you won't see anything if you're set up wrong, and very little uses even parity any more.

The data connection (in EDACS anyway) uses the RDI protocol, so you won't get anything really meaningful out of it. However, there are some diagnostics (I think) buried in there - you might try sending <ctrl>D (ascii 4) followed by 3 and 1 to get some stats, or <ctrl>D 8 for system stats.

Hope that helps,
Enid.

What version of flash code are you using?

Also, you need to have a Data cable instead of a programming cable. The programming cable has a sense resistor of 0 ohms but the data cable has a resistor of 1540 ohms, ribbed or ribless shouldn't matter as both do the same thing of converting TTL to RS232.

Flash is S1R05C01

That makes sense about the sense resistor. I read the manual on the test box and i saw it mentioned that there is a setting for data. Maybe I can find something to use in the mean time. I see they sell a data cable for the p7100's. $125 bucks is a bit much!

Thanks for all the info guys
