Default P7100 Encryption Problem

We currently have MPA select radios with DES encryption and we are trying to incorporate P7150 scan radios. Since they come with AES encryption capabilities, M/A Com gave me these codes to make them work with what we have: J2R15E05.biz and F6R06K02.dsp. I put these on the radios, loaded the DES key in the Key Admin software, but when I try to load the key it says "The Distribution Set could not be loaded. The following error was reported: Key Loading failed. Unable to read a valid response. Resolve the error and click Load to try again." Does anyone know how to "resolve the error"? Thanks for the help!

in the p71, are your systems set to "Aegis" per system?
Per system, are you selected on Key 1?
in conventional or trunked group sets is you digital voice mode set to "key 1" per channel?

You have a Direct FM radio. The keyloader only works with the I&Q radios. You must purchase the Key Manager software package and keyload cable which looks like the ribless programming cable. Cost? around ten grand.

The error you're seeing suggests that the keyloader couldn't talk to the radio. So...does the radio show KEYLOAD on the display? Does it do anything when you try to load the set? Are you using a keyload cable (and not one of the other ones like a data cable or a programming cable)?

Sounds like there's a call to TAC in your future

I'm sorry, I didn't read properly the first time (monday morning). Do you have a keycard and card reader? The key manager is used to create the keys and write them to the keycards of which you should have at least two, the master and the distribution. Once the keys are loaded onto the keycard, which is also password protected, you need to close the key manager software and open the keyloader program which reads and validates the keys from the distribution keycard and then loads it into the radio.

As far as loading it into the radio goes its pretty straight forward. Connect the cable onto the radio and it goes to keyload mode automatically. The software does all the necessary handshaking.

Check your PM. If I read you correctly, this is military.
