Default P7200

Iv got a Macom P7200 im trying to program. Iv got 2 different programming cables that i know work.

Tried holding the PTT and turning the radio on and it boots up normal. Tried the 3 button trick and same outcome. Tried 2 com ports and a USB converter and still nothing.

Took the PTT button off and tried pushing the PTT down with a pen and powering on and still nothing.

Cant read/write the radio.

Shows Pls Login and the red TX light blinks then the screen goes to No Calls.

Any idea what the issue is here?

I know that the Pls Login is OpenSky mode, which means that if the radio is OpenSky only, then I've been told it has to be read/programmed over the air. I tried to read a P7200 that has OpenSky, EDACS, Analog Conventional and P25 Conventional in it, and was able to read all but OpenSky using RPM. That's what I know off the top of my head.

Turn the radio on, then press Program on your software.

That doesn't work on an OpenSky radio.

OpenSky radios are programmed by the OpenSky system they're built to be part of.

The radio may have both OTP (OpenSky Trunking Protocol) and ECP (Edacs, Conventional, P25) modes in it. If this is the case then it should be possible to use the radio's own controls to put it into ECP mode
and then it can be programmed with RPM.

How to change over the radio from OTP to ECP mode? Easy. Google for "Harris P7200 manual" and one of the hits you will get for it will lead you to the user's manual that explains how to switch modes.

Thanks a bunch boys!
Selected ECP mode and now the radio no longer does the log in and such and the menu works and reads/writes now

Good little tip to know! Now others can know too.
