• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I am reworking my bench and looking to streamline my mobile test lab for Harris mobiles. Unlike Motorola, Harris doesn't offer a straight equivalent to the Motorola RLN4460 test box. They instead offer two portable test boxes the TQ0609A (P7200 and older radios) and MATQ-03424 (P5400/7300 and newer radios). For mobile testing there are two options, construction of a test box that uses the extended option cable described in the M7100 Maintenance Manual or modification of a microphone and speaker provided via a Tech Tips bulletin and referenced in the M7300/XG-25m Maintenance Manual.

With all that said, I have a Motorola RTX4005B, Motorola RLN3360, Harris TQ0609A and Harris MATX-03424. Prior to moving forward with the speaker and microphone mods for the test control heads on the bench I am trying to work through the feasibility of building a mobile test box or an adapter to allow use of one of the portable test boxes or Motorola RLN3360. Ideally I would like to simply build a standalone test box that can be connected to the extended option cables for the M7100, XG-75m, XG-25m and XG-100m.

What I am running into however is what appears to be some significant electrical differences in the approaches taken for the M7100 test box and Mic/Speaker mods. The Mic/Speaker mod includes the use of a 600ohm 1:1 transformer for isolation where the test box doesn't. The test box on the other hand includes a cap on the Mic Hi line (due to mic bias voltage) where the Mic/Speaker mod doesn't. I am considering constructing the test box and just incorporating a 1:1 transformer into the design.

Alternatively it appears that the Motorola RLN4460 incorporates both and it should be pretty easy to just use it and construct a pigtail to interface it to Harris' extended option cables. I have attached the schematics of each. Does anyone have any thoughts?
