Default LPE-200 Installed Options

Does anyone know which chip actually stores the options installed on the radio? Or are the options more of a "if you have this chip/functionality installed then you have this option" kind of thing?

The LPE Series unlocks features within the radio by a feature encryption code that is stored on a surface mounted chip. This code only works for the Electronic Serial Number of that radio and the ESN number is stored on a different chip. I have not researched which chip(s) stores the ESN & Feature Code as is will be very hard to upgrade a radio without following the procedure below.

Good Luck

FEATURE OPTION CODES
"After Market" Feature Option Codes Are To Be Ordered Through The Technical Assistance Center

Feature encryption gives a radio user the ability to selectively upgrade radios or "build-in" EDACS value-added features in the field. As the customer’s requirements grow, the radio’s features can be expanded. Feature Encryption is an outstanding tool to custom-fit a radio to the customer’s operational and budgetary requirements. This is possible because it provides a means of easy field upgrades that allow the radios to keep pace with the user’s growing requirements.

Feature Encryption is available for the following product families:

MRK - Conventional and EDACS
Orion - Conventional and EDACS
PCS/MDX/MDR - Conventional and EDACS
LPE-200 - EDACS
LPE-50 - EDACS (Only 16 to 128 System/Groups and ESK upgrade available)
Monogram - EDACS
EDACS 500M
Jaguar 700P/Pi
Jaguar 725M
P7100IP
M7100IP
P5100IP
Note: For any model not listed, please contact the Technical Assistance Center (TAC)
The Feature Encryption process is as follows:
Contact the Technical Assistance Center (800-528-7711 or 434-385-2400 - press option 3) or request can also be faxed to (434) 455-6690. You must provide the Customer Service Representative with the following information:
Model Number or Package Combination Number
Physical Serial Number
Electronic Serial Number (ESN)
Existing Feature Encryption String
Purchase Order Number and/or SAP Sales Order Number
The Customer is billed and the process is complete.
For more detailed information please reference Technical Service Memo (TSM), Volume 17, Number 5B.
** NOTE: M/A-Com reserves the right to charge a service fee to restore feature encryption that’s lost or unknown in corrupted radios, or removing features previously purchased.
