Token any idea why it's so huge? 7.6" W x 4.3" H x 16" D

Perhaps extra shielding or extra antenna inputs?

A good thing in my mind! The link in the OP was in Japanese for me.

Here is another one in English

Remote control by is possible.
It can be recorded in up to 10MHz band RF signal received
Various signal analysis is possible.

Adopt (1) direct sampling method
The digital conversion directly received RF signal, Zeng all processing
Implemented in software.

Equipped with a receiving section (2) of the two systems
Wideband input suitable for wideband signal monitoring, detailed solution
Equipped with a receiving part of 2CH of narrowband input suitable for analysis.

The realization (3) high sensitivity and high dynamic range
Configuration of the AMP circuit, distortion of each element element, the filter circuit, etc.

Review the characteristics and achieve low noise and high dynamic range.

Equipped with (4) Digital IQ baseband signal output

Equipped with a digital IQ data output of up to 10MHz width, each

Perhaps I'll wait and see what the price is going to be. G31 Excalibur is still pricey and its 5 years old - that was top of the wish list, second was the G33.

Looking at the JRC picture shows the phone jack - if that's a standard 1/4" jack then I can't see the box being 16" deep, centimetres perhaps?

I already have a JRC NRD515 and that's built like a tank - hope the SDR is too.

Majoco, my G33 is still up for sale if you're interested. Can't seem to find a buyer. :(

Token and I realized that the 383 has a built-in AC transformer -- which will account for it's weight and size. Obviously, it probably has a lot of shielding and RF filtering as well...

Yep the NRD-383 was manufactured by the Defense side of JRC's business. The price is OVER 50,000 USD.
