My guess is that the power supply, "charger", adapter, wall-wart, whatever you want to call it is nothing more than a 6 volt power supply and the actual charging smarts are probably in the radio itself. Therefore, most any adequately rated 6 volt supply should do the job. However, have been unable to find a schematic for the PL-600 so this is speculation on my part. Hence, my suggestion to check with the vendor.

Anyway, if another 6 volt power adapter is acceptable, don't worry too much about the plug as it can be obtained separately if necessary. Just make sure you observe polarity... center pin negative.

I found one of these Enercell adapters and it works great. It doesn't even get warm, let alone hot.

Kaito received the one I sent back and said they would test it, but haven't heard back from them yet.
I'll get up with them by the end of the week.
