Default New Year's day pirates and other things

Tomorrow night, if you are into hearing the hobby pirates, you might want to tune around 6800-7000 or thereabouts and see what you can hear. The hot freqs lately, from the reports in NASWA, tend to be around 6925 and a little on 6955. Beware a bible thumper in that area; and perhaps more interesting, given the situation in Gaza right now, is Galei Zahal - the Isreali Army station - on 6973. Not always active, but if it is now, it might be interesting listening. You need not be able to speak Hebrew to get the gist of what is going on.

Of course, this would be during the nighttime hours - and perhaps the early morning...one never knows, particularly on New Year's 73 Mike

While you can hear regional signals during daylight hours the band opens for DX at night.

Therefore your evening is my 10.00am - not a lot of point in me straining my ears on the 31m band then listening for pirates! I doubt if they transmit 24/7 as they will only be active your East Coast evening.

Thanks - Marty

New Years is a good time to spin through the FM band as well. You never know who's looking for mischief!

Nothing noted here lately except for a local church that opened up (legally, I think) on 1710khz.

If it's on 1710 it's sixteen angels on a dead Pope's chest, yo ho ho and a bottle of Christian Brothers.
