Universal Radio has a nice selection, including some used rigs, and the prices are competitive.

That link is incorrect. Here's the correct one - Fair Radio Sales Company Inc.

We will all be entering the hamfest season pretty soon. You should know that many HF ham transceivers have a pretty darn good general coverage radio in them these days. But before you plunk down any green, do your homework - use the Receiver Reviews article in the wiki to become familiar with the links to references for LOTS of receiver reviews. Get a copy of Passport to World Band Radio from MANY sources, including Universal. And if you get to talk to Fred Osterman, tell 'em Mike Agner says hi.

Did I already say 'do your homework'?

It bears repeating 73 Mike

I just picked up an Icom R75-12 for $419 from Universal Radio. They had a few more on the self.

How good is "good" condition when you get a radio from Universal? I see one $419 R75 listed.

Mine was "MINT" bright and shiny - not 1 scratch. I also put it through a marathon test, about 8 hours strait, three days in a row. IIRC they have a 30 day return policy. If you decide on the R75 - may I recommend joining the R75 Yahoo! group, and look through Phil's cookbook.

Bought my IC-R75 fron Universal Radio also, but bought new. Aside from slow shipping and mediocre customer service, I would recommend them.

I recently purchased headphones, etc. from hamcity.com. The best customer service and fastest shipping I ever experienced!
