Cool HF Software use with Netbooks

Wouldnt these litter suckers be just perfect for use with decoding software, waterfall displays, logging, and who knows what else?

Its a perfect tool compainion for mobile use, or base use running 24/7.

I had an Acer Aspire One, but it craped out on me, but Im thinking of going with a Asus EEE PC or HP, somthing small enough to actully fit in the same bag with my Antennas, and Radios.

And just about all of them run $150-400 dollars, you cant beat it.

Just thoughts, and disscussion.

I'm using an Acer Aspire to remote into my radio room and control my IC-R8500 via Ham Radio Deluxe, and to control my NRD-535D via Shortwave Log. I also use it to remote control my BCD996T via Proscan, and to run Trunk88 and UniTrunker for TRS decoding. I can sit on my screened in porch in nice weather and run the radio room, using Skype as an audio source. Works fabulously.

Cool

I have an Asus eePC and it's pretty nice. I'm not a fan of trackpad's for a mouse, but it's not bad. The keyboard is a tad small and the trackpad is a bit sensitive. If you're not careful you can hit the trackpad while your typing. It's very annoying after a while. The screen is very nice as well. A bit small but not bad for logging, waterfalls, etc.

Also remember that Netbooks only have USB ports. There is a nice adapter (USB to DB9 serial) you can buy on EBay for about $15. The driver is on Windows Update and it works flawless.

I have a Dell Mini 9 -- I'm extremely pleased with it for the price (nabbed it during a sale and with my company's discount for less than $200 with webcam option. My only complaint is the keyboard.
