Default Weird Transmission 8.420USB

Hey everyone, this morning around 1045Z I was scanning the bands and came across an odd signal. It was CW repeating the characters WFO, followed by four tone bursts. I have a 2 minute sample saved as a WAV file if anyone wants it. Any clues what this was?

.......maybe a ex-motocrosser <grin>, I remember using that term many times. 9:59am and still going strong here, very odd.

Nothing weird or odd about it..
As you figured out it’s WLO radio..
HF SSB Radiotelephone, Telex and Email Frequencies and Channels
If I remember right, the mode “tone burst” after CW is ARQ-E.
It’s been a while since I played with Code-3…

At that frequency it was probably a marine beacon

The burst at the end is a Sitor-A 'idle' signal, if memory serves. I haven't seen any marine use of ARQ-E (or any use at all, for that matter) in a very long time.

I hear it every night, just the idle, haven't heard any actual transmissions, but I always tune in just to see how clear i'm receiving that night..

ETA: FWIW I first picked it up on my eton S350DL, then once I got my DX394 and actually had USB I can REALLY hear it.
