Default DX 150/MW DXing

Hello all. I picked up a DX150 at an estate sale this weekend for pretty much nothing, and was a surprised to find out it was in very nearly mint condition....I'm AMAZED at how clean it is. I put a longwire antenna on it, and spent a little time last night cruising around the BCB and was quite pleased with the results.

Sure, it's not as stable or sensitive as modern, top of the line gear, but it sure was fun...and, isn't that what a hobby is all about, having fun?

Anyway....does anyone around here do much MW dxing? Do BCB stations even verify anymore? I've not done any BCB dxing since, the late 60s or so.....

Rick

Indy, there are 2 organizations heavily into MW DXing, and they enjoy a worldwide rep as being some of the best in the business. These are the International Radio Club of America and the National Radio Club. Their links can be found on the article below...

SWL Broadcast - The RadioReference Wiki

That's where you can get lots of answers to your questions. 73 Mike

Since they haven't been mentioned, let me suggest:

BCB logger: Broadcast Band DX Logger!

DX-MidAmerica: DX-midAMerica LATE DX

BCB Database: http://www.dxfm.com/ (scroll down)

Radio station search: http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/finder?page=Y

Generate your own maps: http://www.fmscan.org/index.php?r=m (great for AM and FM worldwide)(I go to 'maps' then 'single frequency')

Please add these to the SWL Monitoring wiki. If there's enough interest, I can code up a MW only page pretty quickly 73 Mike
