Default DX399 up and working but...

For some unknown reason, I fired up my old RS DX-399 today, the only issue I have is the noisy volume control, which I would love to get fixed, but it works.
I found a excel spreadsheet to download that has current schedules at Prime Time Shortwave - Your guide for English shortwave broadcasts
Much to my surprise it works as it should using OpenOffice calc.

Sounds like it's time to go through it with some contact cleaner...Mike

If I could find some, we don't have a RS nearby, not that they would have any anyway. I blew come canned air into it (around the knob). It will work for now, I should take it apart and try the air again, but I just wanted to listen.

Never mind Cell Phone Shack when you can buy from the source. Made by Caig, I found DeoxIT to be the best I've ever used and you can order it here: DeoxIT® D-Series Powerful stuff to be used sparingly a little goes a long way, you'll have plenty for future applications.
